Some modification of my own. I think this is what Slingerland should have done in the first place. Simple and efficient.
Reinforcing plate under the snare strainer, 1mm polished stainless steel.
This is where the tuning worm screw is leaning on, and has made damage
to unnumerous snares of this design. The plate goes down to
the shell fold above the snare bed. The tuning mechnism is attached to this
plate.
The modification really goes unnoticed, unless pointed out, and even
more so if the shell was chrome plated.
The tuning knob is not original.
The butt end in this model is even more prone to deformation than the strainer
end. Just watch closely while turning the strainer on! The reinforcing plate
really comes in handy here.
